Plot
On the grounds of a medieval German university stands an ancient Ginkgo biloba, its long life a quiet contrast to three intimate, human stories. In 1908, the university’s first female student enters the prestigious botany department, facing sexism from professors and peers. In 1972, amid counterculture movements, a reserved student becomes captivated by a housemate and the geranium she studies. In 2020, during the pandemic, a neuroscientist from Hong Kong enlists a famous botanist for an experiment involving the old Ginkgo tree.
